The device incorporates a motor (1), which is electrically or pneumatically actuated via a flexible feed line (4). The motor rotates a spray head (3) via a feed pipe (2). A supply pipe (5) opens into the feed pipe, to supply cleaning fluid to the head. For stationary use, the appliance is located in a carrier lid, which is located in a maintenance opening in the channel wall. For non-stationary use, the appliance the appliance is built into a carriage (15). Struts (18) protect the appliance against direct contact with the inner wall of the ventilation channel. A flexible traction/support cable (23,24) is fastened to either side of the carriage.
