A processing station (15,34) has a machining width at least equal to the length of the workpiece to be processed. A holding and clamping device (16,18) is provided at the processing station and outside the work area of a machining tool arrangement (26,27) of the processing station engages the workpieces. An adjuster adjusts the relative position of the machining tool arrangement and of the workpieces for regulation of the orientation of longitudinal dividing cuts or longitudinal machining surfaces on the workpieces relative to the workpiece longitudinal axis. Through the processing station and proceeding away from it, is a workpiece conveyor channel.
