Prodn. of herbal extracts comprises extracting plant material (pref. contg. alkaloids) with an EtOH/H2O/CO2 mixt. under pressure. The plant material e.g comprises the green parts of Chelidonium majus, labelia, sarothamnus, ephedra or eschscholtzia, the leaves or roots of belladonna, the leaves of hyoscyamus or stramonium, the roots of rauwolfia or ipecacuanha, or Secale cornutum.
