The door for the rectangular doorway of a garage etc. swings upwards behind the lintel (3), where there is a niche (7) in the roof. Its leaf (10) has rotary guide members at the top and bottom corners, the bottom ones working in rails (3) extending upwards, and the top ones in rails (32, 32) running horizontally. A counterbalancing mechanism (40) is provided for the leaf weight. The rails (30) extending upwards slope upwards to the niche from a position clear of the bottom leaf corners. The horizontal rails run from a point immediately below the linetal towards the interior (1), crossing the first rails near their top ends. Thus short sections (31) of horizontal rail are formed (31) from the leaf end to the crossing point, and long ones (32) between the latter and the interior. The bearings of the corner guides are secured to the leaf corners via brackets (13, 14) of length (L1, L2) such that in the top position the leaf is above the level of the lintel bottom edge (4, 5). USE/ADVANTAGE - No obstruction of doorway by leaf when open.
