A lifter for a window (20) in a car door has a loop (34) attached to the actual window holder. An upper arm (16) fastened to a section of the door skin has a section (38) over which one end of the loop slides. A lower arm (18) on the door skin has a pulley (30) for the loop, driven by a motor (28). Between the arms is a guide (22) whose purpose is to keep the window holder vertical. The lower arm has a guide plate around the axis of the rotating element, around which the loop passes. The width of the loop that slides around the upper arm is smaller than the width of the rest of the loop.
