Gyrotron system for microwave or millimetre wave generation

The gyrotron system (200) has an electron gun (1) providing an electron beam (2), with rotation of the emitted electrons via an axial magnetic field, provided by a permanent magnet (20) and a pair of electromagnets (30, 31), determining the magnetic flux density. A hollow resonator (6) provides a cyclotron resonance maser effect between the rotating electrons and an electromagnetic HF field and is followed by a collector (7) for the electron beam, with an exit window (8) for the generated HF waves.
