The toaster has two side-by-side toasting compartments with a central double-sided heater which may be removed to roast rolls, etc.. The toaster (9) is conventionally constructed with a pair of toasting chambers (2) arranged alongside each other for toasting two slices of bread simultaneously. The centre element assembly (3) may be lifted out for the purpose of toasting thicker bread products.
