Piped warm water floor heating system

The floor heating system has pre-set local valves controlling the flow of heating medium to individual rooms. Each valve (1) is directly coupled to a housing (6) containing an orifice unit (7) mounted on a collar (13) on the housing inner wall. Input (11) and output (12) sides of the orifice have identical spacing from the collar. The orifice unit and adjacent surfaces of the housing are ground smooth. Pressure drop across the orifice is measured pref. by inserting two hollow needles (18) through sealed openings (23) in the housing wall. Each needle is connected by tubing (21) to a pressure difference measuring instrument. The seals (24) for the openings are self sealing upon removal of the needles. A further screwed plug (26) completes the seal.
