An active control system adapted to provide control element to at least one appliance (blower) to be quieted through the power connection (ac power and signals). The system comprising an active noise control element (50-52, 54-56) associated with a power distribution network (ac power), at least one appliance (blower) to be quieted, and a power connection (ac power and signals) connected between the control element and the appliance (blower) adapted to convey noise control signals from the control element to the appliance (blower) and a residual noise signal from the appliance (blower) back to the control element.
