Apparatus and method for heating a body of material by induced eddy currents, caused by the relative movement of a magnetic field source and the body to be heated. Apparatus and method for the collection, storage, and utilisation of heat energy, in which the storage medium is graphite. The means for heating include solar, electrical, and eddy current. Apparatus for generating electricity by means of a fluid driven turbine and generator. The turbine speed is governed by magnetic braking created by the generator.
