Paper sheet transporting and alignment mechanism

The mechanism is for sheets of paper, cardboard, foil etc., having an aligning straight-edge (1) towards which a belt (2) converges slightly in the travel direction, also an air-suction system. The belt surface supporting the sheets has open transverse grooves at least at the side towards the straight-edge. Its top run (2.3) works in a guide channel (6) open to the top, and flush at the top with its surface. The open side of the grooves works with the suction intake (9, 10). The channel can be of U-section, the internal distance between its sides being only slightly greater than the belt width. The side towards the straight-edge contains one or more ports, to which the suction system is connected at the outside surface.
