<p>An industrially suitable process for producing a sialic acid derivative which comprises preparing a phosphite (6a) by the condensation of tetra-O-acetylsialic acid (4a) with acetylcytidine-5'-O-amidite (5a) in the presence of an acidic catalyst, preparing a phosphate (9a) by oxidizing the phosphite (6a) with t-butyl hydroperoxide, and preparing CMP-sialic acid (1a) by deblocking the phosphate (9a) with a base.</p> |
