The process (1) automation apparatus produces at least one control parameter (y) for influencing the process. The automation apparatus includes a neural network (s), which produces the control parameter in dependence on a guidance parameter (w). In one embodiment the automation apparatus is implemented as a control device. At least one output parameter of the process is carried to the control device as a control parameter (x). The guidance parameter is also carried to the control device. A comparator (2) produces the control difference (e) between the guidance parameter and the control parameter. The control difference is supplied to the neural network as an input parameter.
