Solar heat collector element and element array

The solar collector has an array of individual elements (1). The housing (3) of each element has an inner (6) and an outer (5) wall between which is a sealed insulating space (7). The walls are pref. made of glass and transparent to solar radiation (14), but the inner wall has a radiation absorbent layer (8). The cross-section of the housing can be eg. circular, square or polygonal. A heat transfer medium circulates within the housing, pref. in the space (4) between a central displacement body (13) and the inner wall of the housing. One end of the housing is open and is sealed by a plug (9) of heat retaining material eg. plastics, with an inlet (11) and an outlet (12) for the heat transfer medium. The housing can optionally have two open ends, both sealed by plugs.
