An apparatus for setting a casement on a frame in an open position includes a positioning stay (530) which can be coupled at one end to a mounting piece (520) on a first of two associated frame pieces of the frame and of the casement by means of a pivot hinge (532) and can be connected by its other end to the second of these associated frame pieces by means of a pivoting and sliding hinge. Between the positioning stay (530) and the mounting piece (520) of the first frame piece, supporting means are provided at a point between the pivot hinge and the pivoting and sliding hinge relative to the length of the positioning axle. The supporting means supports the positioning stay (530) in a pivoted out position corresponding to the vent position of the casement in the sense of preventing the positioning axle (530) from approaching a position of an angle of rest of the positioning axle (530) corresponding to a closed position of the casement.
