A system for encoding and decoding a transmission signal comprises: (a) an encoder with a first delay line to introduce variable delays into the signal according to an encryption algorithm; (b) a transmitter; (c) a receiver; and, (d) a decoder with a second delay line to further delay the received signal according to a decryption algorithm, to cause the decoded signal to be delayed by a fixed time interval relative to the unencoded transmission signal. <IMAGE>
