An item of road furniture such as a marker post for a zebra crossing comprises a metal tubular member (1) adapted to be mounted upright in a road or pavement and to carry a beacon (20). A plurality of apertures (2) are formed in the tubular member (1) each being closed with a or a respective body of light-transmitting material such as a plastic tube (4) inserted within the tubular member (1) to be a close fit therein.
