A container of synthetic plastics material comprises a tear-off bead 11 having an aperture 12 extending from its upper edge to its junction with the container body, a cover 16 of plastics film being heat-sealed to the bead 11 after the container is filled. A tab 13, integral with the bead adjacent the aperture 12, enables the bead 11 and cover 16 to be torn off. The container may be moulded from polypropylene or from a type of polythene; and the cover may be of polythene, polyethylene-coated "Cellophane" (Registered Trade Mark) or propylene. Alternatively the cover may be a laminate of polyethylene and " Mylar " (Registered Trade Mark). In a modification, Figs. 8-9 (not shown) the aperture 12 does not extend fully through the bead 11. The container may be oval, rectangular or circular. The cover may be transparent, and may be treated to obtain microporosity so permitting gas to escape but precluding moisture from doing so, |
