<p>An air bag inflator 12 has a mounting flange 24. Mounting bolts are fitted through open-ended slots 62. The inflator can therefore easily be removed for disposal. An alternative design uses straight slots (30, fig. 2). A third embodiment uses straight slots (52, fig. 4), with closed ends (100) that are easily broken off. In each case, a stress concentrating portion is provided, to allow deformation of the inflator/retainer assembly to encourage these parts to separate.
