The mechanism, esp. for a window with two opening sections and a central fixed vertical bar (8) consists of sliding long bolts carried by the central upright (7) of the semi-fixed window (4), operated to engage with and disengage from the fixed surrounding frame by a control box (10) and a handle (22). The control box (10) is located in a recess (27) in the fixed vertical bar, which engages with the semi-fixed window by clips (9). Once the semi-fixed window is closed and the long-bolts locked, the handle (22) is in the down position, enabling the other window (5) to be closed or opened at will.
