A rotary stencil printing machine has a cylindrical member (1) rotatable on its center axis and adapted to have a stencil sheet (3) wrapped around its peripheral surface, the cylindrical member (1) having a first ink-pervious area (11) corresponding to a perforated image area of said stencil sheet mounted thereon, and at least one second ink-pervious area (14) corresponding to a trailing edge part of said stencil sheet (3) and at least two ink-impervious areas (12, 13) enclosing the second ink-pervious area (14). A clamping device (4) is provided on the peripheral surface of the cylindrical member (1) for clamping a leading edge part of the stencil sheet (3), and an external back-up means (17) is provided for urging a printing sheet (20) into cooperative juxtaposition with said cylindrical member (1). <IMAGE>
