PURPOSE:To obtain 4,6-diaminoresorcinol or its salts by an industrially advantageous method, without passing through nitro compounds with a danger of an explosion, capable of obtaining the objective compound in a high yield from resorcinol and an arylamine. CONSTITUTION:4, 6-Diaminoresorcinol is obtained by hydrogenolysis reaction of 4,6-bis(arylazo)resorcinol in a solvent and in the presence of a metal catalyst. After removing an arylamine produced by the hydrogenolysis reaction, by a crystallization of the obtained 4,6-diaminoresorcinol, it is dissolved by adding a mineral acid and can be isolated as a form of mineral acid salt of a high purity by recrystallization. 3,6-Bis(arylazo)resorcinol can be produced by conducting a coupling reaction of an aryldiazonium salt obtained by diazotization of an arylamine, with resorcinol in an organic water miscible solvent at pH of 9 or higher. |
