<p>PURPOSE:To remove a safety timer timing constraint of a video recording side VTR by providing a time supervision timer for a retrieval mode, temporarily releasing a video recording standby mode of the VTR when a prescribed time is passed and resetting the mode. CONSTITUTION:Prior to the retrieval of the magnetic tape segment which is to be reproduced, a retrieval time monitor timer 2 detects the fact that a beforehand set time which is shorter than the safety timer of the VTR is passed. An arrival time comparator circuit 5 discriminates whether the value obtained by dividing the difference between a current tape counter value 6 outputted from a tape counter 4 and a target tape counter value 8 outputted from an editing starting point storage RAM 7 by a retrieval speed exceeds the time difference between the safety timer and the timer 2 or not. Should the safety timer of the VTR be discriminated to be overflowed before a target position is reached, a video recording standby mode temporary release instruction 11 is outputted to a video recording mode/video recording standby mode instruction signal generating circuit 10 and the VTR is reset to a video recording standby mode.</p> |
