PURPOSE:To recover function of a head with a simple structure without affecting the printing speed. CONSTITUTION:A platen driving gear 7 is fixed to a platen 3, and the platen driving gear 7 is connected to a driving gear 6a of a motor 6. A suction pump driving gear 8 is fixed to the platen 3, and the suction pump driving gear 8 is connected to a driving gear 16a that drives a suction pump 9. The suction pump 9 communicates with a cap 10 and a waste ink tank 11. When the motor 6 is driven, the platen 3 and the suction pump 9 operate, and carriage of a recording medium 5 is made simultaneously with suction of ink from the inside of a head 1. |
