PURPOSE:To form and erase an image in good contrast and maintain an image stable with the elapse of time, in a reversible thermal recording material, by adding a specific electron acceptive compd. causing a reversible hue change to a colorless or light-colored electron donating dye precursor. CONSTITUTION:An electron acceptive compd. represented by the formula (wherein R<1>, R<2> and R<3> are respectively a divalent hydrocarbon group and one or more of sulfide, ether and an-NH-group is contained in R<2> and the sum of the carbon atoms of R<1>, R<2> and R<3> is an integer of 16 or more, R<4> and R<5> are a hydroxyl group and X and Y are a divalent group containing one or more -CONH-bond) and causing a reversible color change, that is, color development and erasure is added to a usually colorless or light-colored electron donating dye precursor. The electron donating dye precursor contains the electron acceptive compd. as a main component and these compds. are applied to or printed on a support to form a reversible thermal recording layer. As the support of a recording material, paper, a nonwoven fabric, a fabric, a synthetic resin film and the like are arbitrarily used. |
