PURPOSE: To fast solve a predicate and a Boolean expression by using a pair of operations to decide value in a register designated from plural inputs. CONSTITUTION: Execution of each operation is defined by two functions. One is an input of an operation, i.e., a result function which generates a result value and the other is an enable function which decides whether a result value is written into a designated register 46. To solve an Boolean expression with this operation, it is necessary that the register 46 be initialized by a Boolean value (e.g. 1 for AND reduction, 0 for OR reduction). Next, the operation writes a Boolean value into the register 46 (e.g., 0 for AND reduction, 1 for OR reduction) if an enable function of each operation is true. The register 46 then stores a correct value of the expression. The value of the expression is used as a predicate and conditionally executes an operation in a program. Ideally, operations are parallel carried out by plural function units 36 to 39, and the register 46 can accept the value as long as plural value which are simultaneously written are equal. |
