PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for high efficiency catalytic combustion of methane-based combustible gas under high-speed reaction conditions by carrying Pd by ion exchange on zeolite in which the molar raito of SiO2 to Al2O3 is a certain value or above. CONSTITUTION:Zeolite such as mordenite in which the molar ratio of SiO2 to Al2O3 is >=15, preferably ZSM-5 in which the molar ratio of SiO2 to Al2O3 is >=20 is immersed in an aq. soln. contg. Pd ions such as an aq. PdCl2 soln. to carry about 0.1-2.0wt.%, preferably 0.5wt.% Pd on the zeolite by ion exchange. The resultant catalyst has very superior durability and is used for catalytic combustion of methane-based combustible gas such as natural gas with oxygen. |
