PURPOSE:To prevent road names from being displayed overlapping with each other regenerating plotting area candidate data when an actual plotting area on a map screen corresponding to another plotting area overlaps. CONSTITUTION:One road data D1 is selected from a road data list consisting of road name data D12 and road data D1 including road plotting data. Then plotting area candidate data for a road name corresponding to road name data D12 are generate based on the road plotting data included in the one selected road data D1. Then the generated drawing area candidate data are compared with other plotting area data D12A which are already generated and when the actual plotting area overlaps with the actual plotting area on the map screen corresponding to other plotting area data D12A, plotting area candidate data are regenerated. Consequently, road names which do not overlap can automatically be plotted. |
