The apparatus for detecting the kind of liquid fuel and controlling the combustion by the proper air/fuel ratio, comprises a means for detecting the physical quantities of the fuel and transmitting the detected sigmals, a means for comparing the detected signals with the preset programmed data and controlling the load of the combusting device by setting the combustion condition according to the compared results. The detecting means has a capillary tube for using the surface tension changed according to the fuel viscosity; a sensor for detecting the pressure of the capillary tube and transducing the pressure signals to the electric signals.
