Protein Euserratin 4 from the plant Euphorbia serrata L., process for obtaining it and its use. Euserratin 4 has the following amino acid composition Cys- 0.8, Asp-35.8, Thr-15.8, Ser-20.0, Glu-20.6, Pro-9.8, Gly- 14.[illegible], Ala-11.6, Val-24.3, Met-1.6, Ile-15.4, Leu-29.9, Tyr-11.4, Phe-10.6, Lys-24.3, His-2.7, Arg-6.2. The process comprises (a) extracting a lyophilisate of Euphorbia serrata L., (b) filtering the liquid extract through a chromatographic bed, (c) subjecting the extracted fluid to ion exchange chromatography, (d) eluting the column with a solution of NaCl and NaH2PO4, (e) dialysing the eluted protein and subjecting it to ion exchange chromatography, (f) purifying the Euserratin 4 by molecular exclusion and ion exchange chromatography. Euserratin 4 is used as a ribonucleic acid inactivator and an inhibitor of protein synthesis.
