The device allows a rack (7) to leave freely from one guide track to another after having crossed the gap (17) separating the guide tracks (6a,6b). This is achieved by simultaneously rotating two identical toothed wheels (3a,3b) which mesh with the rack, perpendicular to the rack plane and located either side the gap. The toothed wheels are fixed to a chassis (2) which is movable on a fixed frame (1) and able to be uncoupled from the rack. Guide tracks are fixed to distinct adjacent structure and are displaced in a plane perpendicular to that of the toothed wheels. The guide tracks of one structure are carried in alignment with the guides of an adjacent structure in order to allow passage of the rack from one structure to the other.
