The intersomatic cage (1a) for fitting between two adjacent vertebrae consists of two parallel branches (11a,12a) and a bridge (13a) between the rear ends (131a,132a,134a) of the branches, with a movable component (15a,16a) which can adjust the spacing between the forward ends (141a,144a) of the two branches once the cage is in position. The inner faces of the branches have thrust surfaces forming the sides of a V which points towards the bridge and which are in sliding contact with the spacer (15a), which is adjusted by a screw (16a).
