To produce doubled fancy fabrics, the two materials are overlaid where one has a ground which can be shrunk under the other with less shrinkage. The fabrics are stitched together tin a set pattern to give a double material structure. The material is heated to apply shrinkage, and the thermal distortion gives surface projections which are then processed to remove projections and leave a surface effect.
