A process and device are disclosed for controlling the driving power of a vehicle. The air/fuel ratio of the air and fuel supplied to the driving unit, the advance angle and/or the fuel supply to individual cylinders are influenced on the basis of a set value for the torque to be supplied by the driving unit in order to ensure the set torque value. The torque-affecting modifications of the air/fuel ratio, advance angle and/or fuel supply are mutually synchronised, so that they intervene at substantially the same moment in time, and in particular at the same suction cylinder.
