Sub-nanosecond nitrogen laser

The laser uses a gas discharge for generating the sub-nanosecond pulses, with a jitter of less than one nanosecond. The gas discharge channel is provided in the upper or lower electrode (4,5) of a low inductance band line acting as the charge storage capacitance, with an integrated triggered spark path at its left or right end. The band line pref. has a solid electrode (4), an earth plate (5) and an intermediate dielectric (6), with a precisely controlled switch (8) for triggering the spark path integrated in the earth plate.
