The picture elements (4) have distinctive contours (3), and the frame consists of frame elements (5), coupled together and surrounded by enclosures (6). The frame elements are plate-shaped and the enclosures of adjacent elements are interconnected. At least some enclosures are geometrical continuations of the picture element contour lines in the frame (2) region. Pref. the enclosures are metallic, typically of Cu, and may be formed by soldered enclosure elements. The frame elements are surrounded by reinforcing member in the region of their outer boundary, away from the picture (1).
