The folding roller has a control system which consists of a fixed curved plate and a cover plate driven from the roller. The overlap between the cover and curved plates forms a cam surface which controls the folding or holding lever through connection with a fixed shaft. A sun-wheel (13), coaxial with the folding cylinder (1), fits into an axially parallel planetary wheel (14) mounted in the end of the folding cylinder and engaging with the inner teeth (12) of the cover plate (11). A threaded adjusting spindle (23) is positioned in the frame axially parallel with the sun-wheel. The spindle is connected with the sun-wheel. The threaded adjusting spindle fitted on the outside of the frame with a clamping ring (21) supports a carrier (24) concentrically. The carrier fits into an annular, peripheral-side groove (20) on the sun-wheel or on the connection (19) fixed to it.
