A solvent-free method for the manufacture of porous shaped propellant bodies requires mixing of the propellent material with a water elutable porosity producer prior to shaping and subsequent elution of the porosity producer from shaped product obtained. After the mixture of propellant bodies and porosity producer is kneaded and granulated it is extruded to a desired shape and leached with water which removes the porosity producer. The latter may be alkali metal salts (e.g. potassium nitrate).
