FAST PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR INTERPOLATING INTERMEDIATE VALUES FROM PERIODIC PHASE-SHIFTED SIGNALS AND FOR DETECTING ROTARY BODY DEFECTS

A process and device are disclosed for quickly interpolating intermediate values of a measured value from periodic phase-shifted signals (1, 2). During a first step (10) of the process, the amplitude and zero position of signals (1, 2) are standardised, during a second step (11) the standardised signals are correlated and during a third step (12) an interpolated intermediate value of the measured value is determined from the relation between the standardised signals. The process allows rapidly changing signals to be detected in a reliable and highly accurate manner in real time with few measurements. It makes it possible to carry out measurement processes which in the past were only possible at high expense, if at all, because of the low available resolution. A process is thus disclosed that makes it possible to measure torsions and torques of rotary bodies with high resolution, as well as high resolution torsional vibrations of rotary bodies in operation, so that defects of said rotary bodies may be detected from changes in the characteristic frequencies of these torsional vibrations. In a first step, the time response of the total value of the measured value or of a value derived from the measured value is detected, in a second step the frequency spectrum is derived from the detected time response, in a third step the determined frequency spectrum is compared with a predetermined frequency spectrum and in a final step the deviation of the determined frequency spectrum from the predetermined frequency spectrum is evaluated.
