The torque converter (1) has a retarder (5) part of which is joined to the turbine (7). The retarder is arranged between the inner periphery of the front cover (2) and the inner periphery of the housing for the torque converter main element. The housing has fixed to it an impeller wheel (6) and the retarder is fitted radially inside the turbine and the impeller wheel. A guide wheel (8) has a central placed bearing with an inner shell and an outer shell.
