A functional assembly device for electric and/or electronic equipment has a holder (15, 20, 25) for each apparatus (11, 12). The holders are mechanically interconnected by sliding and/or swivelling joints (14, 19) and the apparatus (11, 12) are electrically interconnected. The functional unit (10) represents a complete pre-installed mobile data processing workstation with a computer (12), a printer (11) and required mains connections, and if required other communication units such as mobile telephone/facsimile machines. The holders have each a clamping bracket (15, 25) for the apparatus (11, 12) and a receptacle (16, 21) for the mains connections or cables and the plug (22, 23). The holders (15, 20, 25) are held in a base frame (13).
