Non=polluting dummy load for turbo machinery

The dummy load utilises a closed circuit containing, a compressor (12), a throttle valve (13), and a heat exchanger (14) connected in series by a channel (11). The circuit can have an equalisation channel (18) connected to it, between the heat exchanger and the compressor. The equalisation channel can have a control valve (17) so that losses due to leakage through seals and other parts of the system, can be replaced. Turbo machinery acted upon by a process gas, and having surplus energy, may be rotationally coupled to the compressor in order for the energy to be absorbed. The closed circuit may also employ nitrogen, to avoid any explosive mixtures forming in combination with the process gas.
