Endoscope comprising ultrasound echography probe 22 mounted on tube 18 via flexible coupling 20. Said coupling 20 has a plurality of rings 58 with a central passage for conductors which relay signals to and from ultrasound transducers within probe 22. Rings 58 have offset steps enabling tilting thereof and regulation of probe angle in one plane. Tilting is effected by adjustment of controls on housing 12 which are connected via a pair of opposing cables passing through tube 18 and holes 74 and attach to distal ring 62. Rings 58 are held in abutment by a further pair of spring mounted cables (not shown). Rings 58 may alternatively have central projections on both faces (Figure 9) allowing tilting in all planes wherein both sets of cables control tilting whilst also being spring mounted. The probe may also be mounted on a bearing and rotated around its major axis by keys located in oppositely handed grooves and controlled by a further pair of cables (Figure 10). <IMAGE> |
