The fastening assembly for supporting a boot on a ski comprises front (3) and rear (4) fixing parts. Each fixing consists of a jaw (5,8) and a body (6,9) carried by a base plate (7,10) which is connected to the ski and immovable in the vertical direction. A stiffening part (18) extends parallel to the ski between the two fixing parts. The stiffening part has a plate (20) which is movable between two positions. In the top position one end is raised relative to the rest of the stiffener, while in the bottom position it forms with the rest of the stiffener an active stiffening part which opposes ski flexing. A return part (43,49) which returns the movable plate to its top position comprises a lifting arm (43) located under the movable plate, which is pivoted about a transverse axle carried by a bearing (42) fixed to the ski, and is returned to the top position by a spring (49).
