A film-covered plastic component (25) comprises a rigid carrier (32) with a film (5) bonded to it. The film (5) edges are turned over the edge of th carrier (32) which is bonded to the film by pressing and flowing molten polymer over the film (5) surface and into the turned over edges. In the mfr. process: i) the film(s) is preformed with turned-over edges; ii) the melt is fed onto the film and pressed into the turned-over edges. Claimed process equipment includes: i) a die with cavity; ii) a means for holding the film (5) against the cavity wall; iii) a film heater above the cavity; iv) inner and outer slides forming th outer and inner halves of the edges of the plastic component and which move from the sides towards the projecting film (5) borders; v) a nozzle for feeding melt to th cavity vi) a pressing system to press melt into the turned-over foil edges and form the final product.
