The invention relates to a switching network for an asynchronous time division multiplex system, which transmits cells supplied by feeding lines (6) and destined for a serving line (8) at a pre-determined network transmission speed and which contains cell filters (7) which are in each case coupled with a feeding line and which, when the route identifier contained in the cells is allocated to the serving line, allow the cells to pass through to be stored in intersection buffers (15) which are coupled with each cell filter. An output buffer (17) which supplies cells to the serving line is coupled with the outputs of the intersection buffers. The cells are transmitted between the intersection buffers and the output buffer at an intermediate transmission speed which is increased in comparison with the network transmission speed.
