The cooling system involves a chamber consisting of inflow and combustion zones. High-temperature gas flows into the latter zone, where it is mixed with fuel and ignites. Effusion and convective systems are used for these zones respectively. The combustion zone can be first cooled by contra-flow, using air (10) which then passes to the inflow zone. The operating gas (8) and fuel (6) can be mixed in the inflow zone, forming a flame front (13) at the connection to the combustion zone, the front being stabilised by a step (15) between the zones. Turbulence inducing components (7) upstream of the fuel inlet can generate a reverse-flow zone at the front, these being effusion-cooled. |
