PURPOSE:To provide a molten carbonate fuel cell which has a long life and in which increase of the inner resistance and occurrence of crossing-over of a gas due to the flowing out of an electrolytic substance are suppressed by lowering the outflow of the electrolyte from an electrolyte plate. CONSTITUTION:A molten carbonate fuel cell has an electrolyte plate 13 produced by impregnating a porous material containing a retaining material and a reinforcing material with electrolyte composed of mixed alkaline carbonates. The porous material contains a potassium composite oxide.
