PURPOSE:To prevent the surface of molten aluminum from being covered with oxide coating film and generate electric power stably for a long time by stirring a molten aluminum electrode by blowing an inert gas to the electrode during power generation. CONSTITUTION:An aluminum-chlorine fuel cell for which a molten electrolyte is used as a solvent and aluminum as a fuel is composed. A nozzle 8 for blowing a gas is installed immediately under a molten aluminum electrode 5 and argon gas 9 is blown to the molten aluminum electrode 5 to carry out bubbling. Chlorine gas 1 is blown from a chlorine gas supplying electrode 2 made of graphite at a prescribed ratio to provide a prescribed resistance and generate electricity at a prescribed temperature. As a result, though the power generation efficiency abruptly lowers after a fixed time in the case where the molten aluminum electrode 5 is not stirred and kept still, in the case where argon gas is blown through the nozzle 8 to stir the molten aluminum electrode 5, the output electric voltage is recovered and power generation can be carried out again. |
