<p>PURPOSE:To provide a blood pressure monitoring device, by which high blood pressure monitoring accuracy can be obtained without forcing a burden on a living body. CONSTITUTION:When a compressing pressure control means 54 repeatedly increases at a low speed the pressure of a cuff 10 from the atmospheric pressure to a designated pressure value PCH lower than the average blood pressure value Pmean of a living body, with a designated pause T1M the rate of change of magnitude of a pulse wave to the change of compressing pressure of the cuff 10 is determined by a change rate determining means 56, and the abnormality of a blood pressure value of a living body is judged according to the rate thetaof change by a first abnormality judging means 58. Thus, the blood pressure is monitored by utilizing that the rate theta of change of the low pressure side of an envelope showing the change of pulse wave amplitude Am caused by pressure change of the cuff 10 changes in response to the change in the blood pressure value, so that high monitoring accuracy can be obtained. Furthermore, as the rate 6 of change can be obtained by changing the pressure of the cuff 10 in the low pressure area from the atmospheric pressure to the above pressure value PCH a burden will not be forced on a living body.</p> |
